i'm just an ordinary person who isn't into history or art, don't appreciate much of art exhibitions and so i only visit museums when there's FREE ENTRY! that's why i love public holidays (aside from the not-having-to-go-to-work part) & International Museum Day! Every gallery that's part of NHB is opened to the public! Thus i begun my Solo adventure - Off to the museum i go!
SPM brought back lots of memories. The nostalgic vespa scooter that i hear every afternoon when i came back from kindergarten, the progression of stamps - from the fish series where you used your saliva to lick the behinds to stick, to the more artistic cum sticker series which had a white background and you could buy them from the machine outside the post office. i even managed to capture the snoopy stamp collection!^_^
next stop: Peranakan museum. finally i know how to spell 'peranakan'. it was like stepping into a peranakan house. and there were plenty of exhibitions. 10 galleries covering 3 storeys of the old tao nan school. from defining who the peranakans to their clothes and fashion, and what's crucial in understanding a culture - food, plus joining in the wedding and viewing the various types of religions which the peranakans believe in. i loved the jewellery collection. they're usually gold ornaments with diamonds on it. so glittery and pretty!
it was raining when i finished my tour around the peranakan museum. that's why i ended up in cafe momentum. blahblah. then i ended up in art museum, my favourite place! i'm not really into paintings and such. i prefer art installations and sculptures that incorporate the use of various materials. but i like art museum still, because the galleries are big and there aren't usually many people in there. and being the kiasu singaporean, i visited every single gallery that i could find. i swear you can get lost in sam. it's just so huge. and after you've been to a few galleries, they more or less look the same. to me at least. and there's so much variety! from paintings, to pottery, to even a section dedicated to children! i love that section the most! for imd08, they had a big board outside and you could do finger painting on it. the end result was a great masterpiece! and they consistently have the animal boards around, so people can just pick up the crayons and doodle in the 'zoo'! my favourite art installation of the day was 'Living Fossils'. It's part of the Vietnam exchange. Sculptured buildings are actually encapsulated in a glass-like cube. Beautiful, especially when you see an entire town displayed on the table. It's as if you suddenly turned into a giant and were transported into the streets of Vietnam.

This evening, Eggtard's behaviour was very different. No mewing. No active jumping onto tables. No chasing imaginary flies. No pouncing on Princess. Just groaning. Weak, soft mews. She stands up a little to change the direction of how she sleeps but just can't find one suitable position. Drifts in and out of sleep. No food, no water till 7am tomorrow morning. This morning, i think she must have wondered:'Where am i?' and soon she found herself under the scapel. A little of her left ear was snipped off to signify that she's a sterilised cat.
I'm gonna give her a nickname - G.I.JANE. Tough girl, who beat all odds. Struggled to survive as she was abandoned in the rain. Thank goodness, YT patiently nursed her back to health. Get well soon eggtard! I can't wait for you to play peekaboo with me in the mornings! :)

This is Agent Amelie, reporting to you, live from Cafe Momentum - a cafe just a few doors down away from Peranakan Museum & The Substation. It's raining cats and dogs outside now, so I thought I'll stop by for a rest. Agent Amelie has covered 2 museums in 2hrs - Philatelic Museum & Peranakan Museum.
Let's break for a review on Cafe Momentum. It looks like a cool hangout place. You can doodle on the mahjong paper which act as the table cloth. Art pieces adorn the walls and you can actually buy them. There's also free wireless internet, so i'm here blogging. The ambience is nice to hang out and chill here. But, they've gotta improve loads on their food. I ordered baked potato wedges and was expecting some standard of presentation. It was a rude shock instead. Meagre slices of potato wedges 'splat' on this see-through glass plate. Plain. Totally unexpected from such an arty farty place, which just screams for creativity to flourish, really. And it costs $3.90. Much more expensive than KFC, so i'm making it up by using the computer for a while. I can't stay here for long anyway, cos I'm gonna zip off to SAM soon.
Now i wish my camera has some wireless function so i can hook up to the computer here and upload some pics! :p It'll be some time before i get another camera.

'That's it?! Tell me more, like what activities are you gonna engage in?'
Nothing? That's what was going through my mind. That was just a conversation about what we're gonna do during this long weekend.
I like having open-ended plans. Just fix a location to meet up with friends and make do with whatever we have there or can even do there. If any case that we really get bored, we can just move to another place a few hrs later! And i don't like meeting too many groups of friends in a day. Besides the fact that i don't have THAT many groups to meet up with, i feel that i won't be enjoying as much cos there'll be just so little time with each group of ppl and i'll be thinking of the next appt because i don't want to be late. What looks so ordinary could actually be some delectable treat! Food philosophy which extends to life as well. i got a pack from my colleague today! yay! which totally made my day! and it's a short week next week! Yippee! Simple pleasures of life: Reese's!
